Past Cats News

Bledsoe to Suns

This news came about yesterday as the LA Clippers, in a 3 team trade, traded Eric Bledsoe to the Phoenix Suns, making yet another NBA team that has multiple past Cats on it. Archie Goodwin was recently drafted to the Suns this past week. More after the jump.

This is a good opportunity for Bledsoe to get playing time at both guard spots. The Suns have a quality point guard in Goran Dragic that will likely start at the 1 spot and take up most of the minutes there. That means that Bledsoe will likely be put in the shooting guard spot primarily like he often was with the Clippers. He will also likely play back up to Dragic at the point. Although we won't know for sure how they will use him until the season closes in.

This also greatly affects the other past Cat on the roster. With yet another guard on the roster that will take up a lot of minutes, I would guess that this will almost assuredly push Goodwin to the developmental league for at least a year or two. We will see how this develops.

New Celtics Coach

Today, Brad Stevens was announced as the next coach of the Boston Celtics. Doc Rivers, the previous coach, recently was "traded" to the Clippers. Stevens, as most will recall, took Butler to the NCAA Championship game two consecutive seasons, although losing both of them. Stevens is incredibly young at only thirty-six. It is hard to say how this will affect the Celtics organization or past Cat Rajon Rondo, the starting point guard. There have been rumors swirling about Rondo being traded and we will see if this announcement affects those rumors at all.

Ev'ry Wildcat Star will shine
